Everything you need to know before applying.

You can apply as an individual or as a group. If you apply solo, we'll match you with teammates based on your background and interests. We'll help ensure every team has coverage across three perspectives — technical, public health, and business. Apply here →
Yes! If your team is already assembled, email rmouser1@jh.edu directly rather than applying through the standard form. We'll get you set up.
No — your team needs a Technical Lead, but that doesn't have to be you. If you bring public health expertise or a business perspective, apply and we'll help you find technical collaborators. The event is designed for cross-disciplinary teams, and your non-technical expertise is exactly what makes them work.
We don't prescribe problem areas. We're looking for teams willing to be honest about where people aren't thriving — and ambitious enough to think they can do something about it. Projects might touch mental health access, economic mobility, community connection, health equity, or something we haven't thought of yet. The strongest teams bring domain knowledge, move fast, and stress-test their assumptions.
